Why Choose Ellis& Evans Oral Surgery

A Personalized Surgical Experience

No two of our patients are the same in their oral health situation or surgical needs. This is true for anesthesia, too. Since most of our procedures are more complex in nature, it’s especially important to us that you’re receiving the correct levels of anesthesia to keep you comfortable and free from pain. Though our oral surgeons are extensively trained in anesthesia and equipped to provide this service, we choose to have a trained anesthesiologist present during your surgery in our office. In this way, our surgeons can focus on providing superior surgical care, while our anesthesiologist can keep you safe and pain-free.

Our Anesthesia Options

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a mild sedation option used often for minor surgeries. A combination of nitrous and oxygen is breathed through a mask worn over the nose for the duration of the procedure. Once the mask is removed, the relaxing and euphoric effects cease.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is sometimes referred to as “twilight sleep”. Administered intravenously, IV sedation has incredibly calming effects that might make you drowsy enough to sleep through your procedure. Due to its IV administration, our anesthesiologist can provide custom sedation levels and monitors your vitals to keep you in a comfortable state.

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia is medically induced unconsciousness, which we generally only use for more extreme reconstructive cases or complex procedures, such as jaw surgery or plastic surgery. During the procedure, you will be unresponsive and will need assistance to breathe. Our anesthesiologist is trained to handle this level of anesthesia and will keep you safe during your appointment.
